About Montrose

The city of Montrose is located in Western Colorado. It is the most populous city in Montrose County. The city made Outdoor Life magazine’s list of “Top 200 for Outdoorsmen” in 2010 because of variety of outdoor activities available.  

Montrose is a town full of history located on the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains and is home to Black Canyon National Park. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy everything from hiking trails to rock climbing and playing a few rounds of golf. In the winter skiers, can make their way to Telluride for beautiful skiing located just 1.5 hours away from Montrose Regional Airport. Montrose has an impressive amount of historical buildings and over 500,000 artifacts from the late 1800s to the early 1900s! A must-stop for visitors who love Western history is the Museum of the Mountain West. There are many other museums and locations to explore for those eager to learn more about Western Colorado's rich history. 

 

  • Montrose Outdoor Activities include hiking Black Canyon National Park, birding, fishing and hunting. If you love to golf, visit the three beautiful courses Montrose has to offer.
