Lafayette is located in Boulder County, Colorado. Surrounding cities include Erie, Broomfield, Louisville, Longmont, and Boulder. The city was a part of the coal mining boom in the late 1800s with the Cannon and Simpson mines being the largest and most productive.
Today, Lafayette hosts several events each year, including a peach festival, a wine festival, an oatmeal festival in cooperation with Quaker Oats, and Lafayette Days. The city has an exemplary parks system with established greenbelts, paths, and parks creating public open lands. The downtown area features coffee shops and boutiques.
Waneka Lake Park is a park with a small lake offering paddle boats, fishing, and trails for bird-watching or jogs.
Indian Peak Golf Course was designed by Colorado Native native Hale Irwin and is considered one of the finest golf courses in Colorado.
