About La Junta
La Junta is in southeastern Colorado, located on the Arkansas River. Previously, La Junta was where the Santa Fe Trail branched south to New Mexico. Today it is known as the “Smile Hi” City and is considered one of the best kept secrets.
Residents and visitors can enjoy the national historic site, Bent's Old Fort, with a living history program. La Junta offers access to the Comanche National Grasslands for prairie hiking and birdwatching. Additionally, it is home to the La Junta Municipal Airport, city parks, museums, and golf courses.
