Gypsum is a ranching town located in Eagle County, west of the ski areas of Vail and Beaver Creek . The town’s name comes from the mineral deposits of gypsum found nearby. Due to the amount found it is home to the American Gypsum drywall plant and mine. Residents and visitors in Gypsum enjoy the outdoor activities such as hiking and biking various trails, fishing and golfing. Downtown Gypsum is lined with restaurants, cafes and parks.
Gypsum Creek Golf Course is a beautiful course spread over a sage-covered mesa offering a Pete Dye 18-hole golf course perfect for players of any ability.
Sylvan State Lake Park is located 40 miles southeast of town offering fun for the whole family including cozy cabins, horseback riding, fishing and boating surrounded by the White River National Forest.
Gypsum Shooting Sports Park is located north of the gypsum exit which serves as a facility to practice firearm education and perfect shooting ability and skills.
