Franktown is a rural town located in Central Colorado and is part of Douglas County. At first glance, it may appear to be a bypass town with a few cafes, restaurants, and boutiques for shopping. But Franktown is rich history and provides its residents with beautiful, open space.
In the 1860s, the city supplied timber to Denver and the Kansas Pacific and Denver Rio Grande railroads. It was also home to the first post office in the area. Additionally, the Evans Homestead Rural Historic Landscape is agriculturally significant for its association with the development of irrigated farming and livestock production in Douglas County.
Castlewood Canyon State Park protects a unique part of Colorado's history including the Castlewood Canyon Dam.
Franktown Cave is the largest rock shelter on the Palmer Divide where prehistoric artifacts have been found dating back to 6400 B.C.
Franktown dining scene is small but mighty! Stop by The Stagecoach Saloon for live music and entertainment with your food. Or stop by the cozy Owl's Next cafe to get your coffee and bakery fix!
Castlewood Canyon is a favorite outdoor state park for residents in the south metro area. It offers great hiking trails that feature Cherry Creek, old structures, and views of the Rocky Mountains, including Pikes Peak! Franktown is also close to parks near Castle Rock and Parker.
