Copper Mountain is a popular mountain and ski resort village that was founded in 1972. It’s located in Summit County, about 75 miles west of Denver on Interstate 70. The closest town is Frisco, which is 8 miles east on the shore of Dillon Reservoir. Nearby resorts within Summit County include Breckenridge, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin, all just west of the Continental Divide.
In addition to these popular ski areas, there are many trails and nature preserves close by. The Eagles Nest Wilderness Area is immediately north of Copper Mountain and the Gore Range Trail and Wheeler Lakes Trail are just across I-70.
Copper Mountain is the starting point of the Colorado's Copper Triangle, a road cycling circuit that has been the home of the annual Colorado Cyclist Copper Triangle Alpine Cycling Classic since 2005.
