Castle Pines is located in Central Colorado and sits at an elevation of 6,368 feet. It is part of Douglas County and just 20 miles south of downtown Denver. The Colorado city boarders the western edge of the Great Plains. Happy Canyon Creek runs northeast through the western part of the city, and the Newlin and South Newlin Gulches run northeast and north through the eastern part of the city. All three streams are part of the Cherry Creek watershed.
Castle Pines is home to 5 parks and 14 miles of paved trails. Walking, running and bicycling is permitted on trails, however horseback riding and the use of motorized vehicles is not allowed. There are several horse farms and ranches in the area.
Elk Ridge Park is an award-winning park that feature a playground, climbing wall, walking trails and more.
The Ridge at Castle Pines North is an award-winning golf course with four sets of tees that measure from 5,000 yards to more than 7,000 yards in length.
Coyote Ridge Park is a 15-acre park that feature two recreational fields, baseball field, playground and more.
