Located on the western boundary of Denver, Sloan's Lake is a park and neighborhood that is focused around one of the best known lakes in Denver. The actual neighborhood is located on the northwest side of Denver and is contiguous to the cities of Lakewood, Wheat Ridge and Edgewater.
Sloan's Lake is the second biggest park in the Mile High City and the city's most beautiful lake. With views of both downtown skyscrapers to the east and The Rocky Mountains to the west, Sloan's Lake is a one-of-a-kind park in Denver that has become an inner-city escape to appreciate not only the views but also the openness and peacefulness of the surrounding water. Boating and fishing are allowed on the lake and the three-mile trail and pedestrian path that circles the lake is extremely popular among hikers, joggers and bicyclist. The park has been named one of Denver's best places for runners by the Denver Westword and with plenty of picnic space and gazebos, Sloan's Lake is a hot spot just to relax and hang out with friends on weekends.
The area and neighborhood in general is very diverse and has lower crime rates than most other communities in Denver. The neighborhood is popular for all types of residents and the area's real estate is just as assorted. From cottages that date back to the 1920s to modern revamped and rebuilt upscale houses and apartments, the Sloan's Lake neighborhood has options for any budget. Sloan's Lake is right across the street from the Highlands neighborhood and with the popular Berkeley district nearby, fine dining and great shopping are just around the corner. Every summer Sloan's Lake Park hosts an annual event that celebrates Asian American culture and draws thousands of spectators known as the Dragon Boat Festival. The park is a great place to view wildlife in the city and is home to all kinds of birds, fish and plant species.
