Wheat Ridge is a member of the Jefferson County School system, which is known as one of the best in the country. Through the Envision Wheat Ridge Comprehensive Plan, Wheat Ridge is planning for growth in the future and an increase in the number of homeowners.
Housing for all types of budgets is available in Wheat Ridge and the area features some very nice private communities.
The city of Wheat Ridge has over 20 different parks and is home to a place the locals can't get enough of: Crown Hill Park. On open space with over six-and-a-half miles of hiking trails that surround a huge lake, Crown Hill Park was named a national urban wildlife refuge in 1991 and is home to a variety of wildlife including birds, deer, coyotes and all kinds of insects. The park is where residents go to have fun hiking with friends and is a peaceful place minutes away from anywhere in urban Wheat Ridge.
The city of Wheat Ridge also has one of the more impressive recreation centers around. The 70,000+ square feet space includes indoor and outdoor pools, 18 ball fields, eight tennis courts and features classes catering to and equipment designed for the physically challenged and senior citizens.
