Golden
Sitting at the base of the Rocky Mountains just 15 minutes west of Denver, snuggled nicely between Lookout Mountain and two beautiful mesas, is the city of Golden.
The territorial capital until 1867, Golden is rich in mining history and has a country-western feel. Known as "Where the West Lives", Golden is a historic town where you'll find small town friendliness and easy access to all the great activities Colorado's mountains have to offer. The city of Golden is home to many museums including Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave and the Colorado Railroad Museum. Clear Creek runs through Golden and the surrounding mountains provide the perfect rugged terrain for hikers, runners and bikers.
Downtown Golden offers over 30 different shops, restaurants and bars where you can actually watch kayakers float by. Golden is also home to Coors Brewery where you can take a free tour of the single largest brewery in the world. Golden is also home to one of Colorado's best universities in The Colorado School of Mines.
