The city of Salida is located in Central Colorado and it’s the most populous city in Chaffee County. The Sawatch Range runs north and south and is located roughly 10 miles west of Salida. Methodist Mountain, which is a major feature on Salida's southern horizon, is the northernmost mountain in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. To the north of Salida is the Arkansas Valley and the town of Buena Vista.

Salida is home to several parks, recreational areas and a museum association that works to protect and preserve important artifacts belonging to the region. It’s a great place to appreciate the outdoors and learn about Old West history.
